Dr. Ihor Pasichnyk, rector from Ostrih University in Ukraine, visited the centre to promote a formal agreement with the two universities of Ostrih and Manitoba. Dr. Pasichnyk spoke to an audience of some dozen key individuals and summarized the growth and goals of Ostrih University. Of particular interest is the fact that Ostrih is the first University in Ukraine to start a "diaspora studies program" to examine the role of Ukrainian related activities outside Ukraine. (In other words they wish to study us!) The Centre for Ukrainian Canadian Studies is well placed to play a significant role in such collaboration. Dr. Yereniuk is spearheading the negotiations.
