On July 16th, Agriculture Ministers from Coast to Coast visited the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals as part of this year’s Federal-Provincial-Territorial Agriculture Ministers Conference
hosted by Manitoba. The annual event was an opportunity for ministers, deputy ministers and invited officials to exchange information and ideas that will form collaborative active plans to strengthen agriculture across Canada and position the sector for success, growth and sustainability.
The RCFFN tour gave conference participants a chance to learn about Barley Research and Health Claims with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Scientist, Dr. Nancy Ames. Participants visited the labs and learned about human nutritional research taking place at the Centre from Dr. Peter Jones, Director of RCFFN. They also toured the pilot plant areas with Research & Development Manager, Dan Wuerch, where tenants and clients showcased their products and discussed how the Centre has helped them. Feedback was very positive from the visitors on how the RCFFN is supporting the innovative side of agriculture with our expert capabilities and unique services.
