Trust is earned. You can never take it for granted. Trust is a path that we walk – one built on understanding and respect. Trust is central to all work at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR).

For years, the records of the Residential Schools were locked away from Indigenous communities. Even now, many Communities do not have a trusted location to store their most sensitive documents and oral histories.

The NCTR is committed to being a trusted location where sacred and sensitive Indigenous records are honoured and preserved. The NCTR will ensure that Indigenous peoples have say in how their records are handled.
