Submissions
Criteria for submissions:
  • Paper must address topics surrounding public policy, administration and governance concerning Manitoba, Western Canada, and Canada in general. Papers on international issues that involve Canadian policy formulation, policy administration or governance will be accepted.
  • Papers must have been submitted for a 3000, 4000 or Graduate level class.
  • Papers must be submitted on the recommendation of the professor who instructed the course.
  • Papers must have received a grade of A or higher.
  • Papers can be no longer than 6,500 words.
  • Papers must follow the Chicago citation style (Author-Date).
  • Please include a 100-200 word abstract that summarizes the main points of your paper.
  • Papers are reviewed according to six key criteria – review our list of criteria  and edit your paper before submission.
  • We welcome submissions from the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, Brandon University, Université de Saint-Boniface, University College of the North, the Canadian Mennonite University and Red River College.

Submission Timeline

  • Submissions are accepted three times a year, reflecting the fall, winter and summer terms. The deadlines are: The third Friday of January, the second Friday of May, and the second Friday of September.
  • Whenever possible, submissions should be from a course completed in the most recent term.

How to submit a paper

  • An electronic copy of your paper (Word document) must be submitted to mppj@mipr.ca.
  • Papers must be no longer than 6,500 words and follow Chicago Style (Author-Date).
  • A submission form completed by the student must be e-mailed to mppj@mipr.ca. Download the submission form here.
  • The instructor must provide e-mail confirmation that they have nominated the submitted paper.
  • All correspondence must be through recognized institutional email addresses.
