About MIPR

The Manitoba Institute for Policy Research is based in the Political Studies Department, in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba. The Institute seeks to improve public policy deliberations and capacity in Manitoba by initiating conversations and debate on current and emerging issues facing our province, by publishing original research, and by engaging with the post-secondary sector, citizens, governments and non-governmental organizations to support public policy dialogue in the broadest sense.

The Institute engages academics, government, the private and non-profit sectors, and citizens of Manitoba on a wide variety of policy issues concerning Manitoba, Western Canada, and Canada in general.
