|NSERC Engage Grant||Grants are intended to foster development of new research partnerships between an academic researcher & a company that have never collaborated together before.||To cover the direct project costs associated with the research activities needed to address
the identified problem.

||Agri-Innovation Program to accelerate the pace of innovation by supporting research & development activities in agri‐innovation & facilitating the demonstration, commercialization and/or adoption of innovative products, technologies, processes, practices and /or services|| •Agri-science cluster: Support aims to mobilize &
coordinate a critical mass of scientific expertise in industry,
academia & government
•Agri-Science Project: A single agri-science project or a smaller set of agri-science projects that would be less
comprehensive than an agri-science cluster.
The scope may be national, regional or local.

|Collaborative Research & Development Grants (CRD)||This is the next step after an Engage Grant, CRD supports longer-term partnerships, from one-to-five years in duration. The average is 2-3 years.||Direct costs of research, such as the salaries of students, postdocs, research assistants & the costs of equipment, materials, services & travel.
The CRD is a matching grant, so the company must cover half of the project costs.

|Scientific Research & Experimental Development Tax Credit (SR&ED)||The SR&ED Program gives claimants cash refunds and / or tax credits for their expenditures on eligible R&D work done in Canada.||Claimants can apply for SR&ED investment tax credits for expenditures such as wages, materials, machinery, equipment, some overhead, and SR&ED contracts.||Applied for at tax filing||100% refundable on qualified SR&ED current expenditures & 40% refundable on qualified SR&ED capital expenditures, up to a maximum threshold of $3 million|
|Commercialization Support for Business Program||Supporting product & process commercialization & business development||Prototype to market-ready product, engineering analyses, trial production, test marketing, materials & activities needed to enter new markets successfully, obtaining plant or product certification, securing IP.||On-going||$15,000 - $200,000 depending program component|
|Connect Manitoba businesses with University researchers||Projects are funded in four-month periods & provided to support the intern’s research. International students & Post-Docs are eligible.||On-going||Sponsor Organization funds of $7,500 & MITACS matching funds of $7,500|
