The Universiy Management Course (UMC) offered through the Centre for Higher Education Research and Development (CHERD) is a management course for administrators of academic and administrative units with direct responsibility for recommending and implementing policy. This includes: department heads, chairs, associate deans, managers, directors of services, and executive assistants.

The curriculum examines human rights, administrative and contract law, financial management and planning, human resource management and conflict resolution.

The program provides you the opportunity to:

• broaden your perspectives;
• discover how to respond to the challenges facing university administrators;
• improve your planning, decision-making, and leadership skills;
• learn how to enact change in a positive and proactive manner;
• interact with your peers, away from the pressures of work;
• enhance team effectiveness; and discover opportunities for personal growth and development.
