"Tonguing the Text"
A Six-Week Workshop with CCWOC's Fall 2016 Writer-in-Residence, Steven Ross Smith
This workshop will focus on orality and the materiality of language—its sounds, textures, constructions—as applied to the forms and genres that the participants present—poetry, fiction, non-fiction, song, script, story-telling, and so on. Informed by this emphasis, attendees will then develop ongoing or new writing toward completion. Along the way discussion may consider formal innovation, writers’ block, process, editing, and generative devices. In the final meetings, focus will be on the skills needed for live presentation of participant’s works.'
