Dr. Peeler’s primary research interests and expertise lie in the areas of clinical orthopaedics and applied musculoskeletal (MSK) anatomy, with a specific focus on the efficacy of MSK assessment and treatment procedures used in the management of injuries/pathologies of the knee. In support of his research program, he holds cross appointment in the School of Medical Rehabilitation and Department of Medical Education at the University of Manitoba, and is a Research Associate of the David & Ruth Asper Research Centre located at the Pan Am Clinic and the Manitoba Centre on Aging. Currently, his research is focused on exploring rehabilitation interventions designed to diminish knee pain and enhance joint function in individuals diagnosed with knee Osteoarthritis.
Beyond research, Dr. Peeler also possesses a wealth of teaching and clinical experience in the field of musculoskeletal medicine. He currently serves as the course director for musculoskeletal medicine within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, and possesses more than 18 years of clinical practice experience as a Certified Athletic Therapist [CAT(C)] working in musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation. He has previously worked as the Director of Sports Medicine and Science services at the Canadian Sports Centre – Manitoba, served as the Head Athletic Therapist at the University of Saskatchewan, and been selected as a member of Canadian medical teams working at numerous national and international sporting competitions, including the 2010 & 1998 Commonwealth Games, the 2007 & 1999 Pan American Games, the 2001 & 1999 World Student Games, the 1999 World Junior Hockey Championships, and the 2007 & 1995 Canada Winter Games.
