The Age-Friendly Communities - Active Aging Alliance is based on three assumptions:
1) It builds on existing strengths by bringing together the major governmental and non-governmental organizations in Manitoba whose focus is seniors. These organizations can not only help us promote the notion of age-friendliness, but they can help us make communities more age-friendly. These partners are also in a position to create new partnerships, which is essential in moving forward.
2) National and international partners can both inform Alliance activities, as well as extend its potential impact beyond Manitoba and Canada.
3) The researchers bring strong substantive and methodological expertise to the Alliance, which is essential to the success of community development by providing the knowledge foundation on which to base it, as well as ensuring rigorous evaluation.
