The Security Services Department has implemented many safety initiatives in an effort to better improve safety and security on campus. Many of these initiatives have been spearheaded by the department while others have been made in consultation with many student groups and departments on campus, such as the Environmental Health and Safety Office. Security Services is continuously assessing the current safety initiatives and examining future safety initiatives in an effort to provide the highest quality of safety and security on campus. Many of the safety initiatives on campus, such as the Code Blues and Emergency Red Phones, are tested on a regular basis to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly. Any concerns are immediately brought forward to the Physical Plant Department and the Environmental Health and Safety Department where repairs become a top priority.
In addition, the University has provided additional funding for expansion of the CCTV program in order to facilitate the implementation of these initiatives. Security Services also works with outside agencies such as Manitoba Public Insurance on various safety initiatives.
