Visitor / Casual Parking
On weekdays, between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm, all visiting vehicles on the campus must be parked in public parking areas at a meter, Park & Pay area or the University Parkade, or must display a visitor parking pass purchased from Parking Services.

Staff at the Welcome Centre (open Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm) can help direct you to the most convenient visitor parking locations.

For Investors Group Field events with an expected attendance of over 15,000,
Visitor Parking on campus is restricted to 90 minutes prior to
and during the event.

Pay Stations in Park & Pay areas accept coin, VISA or MasterCard. Single space meters accept *COIN ONLY and are noted below with an asterisk.

Payment by phone via the Parkmobile App is also available in lots with the exception of the University Parkade, Robson and Freedman Crescent single space metered areas.

Please note, meters do not provide change or refunds. Change for meters is available from the Welcome Centre.

CASUAL ACCESSIBLE PARKING

All accessible parking requires a valid SMD Permit displayed in the vehicle.

Payment is available by Pay Station or by Parkmobile App in the following lots:

A, ACW, ALC, H, RCFFN, SD, U (daily) and N Lot (available only during the evening starting at 4:30pm weekdays, or weekends 24 hours).
OR
You may visit the Welcome Centre to obtain a casual parking permit to be used in conjunction with your SMD Permit. A U of M casual Accessible Permit will allow you to park in any accessible parking space on campus.

If there are no accessible spaces available, you may park in the first available space in an alternate staff or student lot with the following exceptions:

  • If there are no available accessible stalls in the St. John's and St. Paul's loop, "N" Lot or "O" Lot then you must relocate to a different lot.
  • Resident Student Lots are for resident students ONLY.
  • The permit is not valid in loading zones, fire lanes, U of M reserved parking areas and hooded meters.

Evenings, Weekends and Holidays - Fort Garry Campus

After 4:30pm on weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays, free parking is available in most staff, student, meter and Pay & Park lots.  This does not include 24-hour reserved areas, restricted areas, “N” lot and the University Parkade.

BANNATYNE CAMPUS

Multi space Park & Pay meters are located in "H" Lot on McDermot Avenue by Tecumseh Street.  Park & Pay machines accept coin, Visa or MasterCard. Payment by phone via the Parkmobile App is also available.

PARKING FOR INVITED GUESTS

Temporary Visitor Permits / Parkade Value Cards / Hooded Meters

Special visitor parking may be available in some staff or student lots or in the University Parkade. Space permitting, short term temporary visitor permits and parkade value cards may be purchased by departments in advance on a FOAP and can then be issued to your guests for complimentary parking. Permits and parkade value cards may be mailed to your guests in advance or you can arrange to have the purchased permits available at the Welcome Centre (423 University Crescent) for pick up by your visitors.

Temporary visitor permits - Available for various staff and student lots, meters and RCFFM by completing the Request Form and returning to Parking Services.
Rates are $7.62 (4 hours) and $11.43 daily (plus GST).

Parkade value cards -
Available for the University Parkade by completing the
Request Form and returning to Parking Services. 
Rates are as posted at time of purchase.

Hooded Meters - In special circumstances, a department may have parking meters hooded and reserved for an event at an additional cost. please contact Parking Services for further details.


CONFERENCE PARKING AND SPECIAL EVENT PARKING

It is best to discuss your needs with Parking Services to see what arrangements can be made. If you are arranging an event that includes off-campus participants, it is essential to tell them in advance of the parking arrangements.



PARKING RESTRICTIONS 
Parking is not permitted in the following areas at any time: 24 hour reserved zones, loading zones, fire lanes and driveways, "no parking" areas, accessible areas (a university accessible parking permit must be displayed on weekdays between 7:30am and 4:30pm and evenings after 4:30pm and weekends in “N” Lot).
