Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University of Manitoba is a graduate program toward M.Sc., Ph.D. and/or MD-PhD degrees. It is an interdisciplinary program between the three faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Science, and the associated hospitals and medical industries.
The main research areas of the program include, but are not limited to: medical instrumentation and sensors, biological signal processing, biomedical image processing and reconstruction, gait analysis and rehabilitation, biophotonics, orthopaedic mechanics, and non-invasive diagnosis of neurological disorders.
The BME program has monthly group meeting, in which researchers (mostly graduate students and postdoctral fellows) give a seminar on their research project. The purpose of these monthly BME group meetings is for the BME members to get familiar with the variety of research in the program as well as providing instructive feedback to the researchers. The seminars' schedule can be found on the Calendar link. If you are interested to receive the BME seminar announcements by email, and/or interested to give a seminar, simply send us an email. There is also Winnipeg's IEEE EMBS chapter seminars arranged by our group dedicated to research seminars by guest speakers. These seminars are also announed in the Seminars' Calendar. To suggest a speaker, please email the EMBS Chapter Chair, Dr. Sherif.
