Welcome to the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Program at the University of Manitoba. While many have been breaking new ground in biomedical research for the last 30 years at the University of Manitoba, the official BME program has been approved recently (as of June 2012). We strive to establish a history of research innovation and discovery in this field through the official BME program.
The merger of biology with electronics and creation of biomedical engineering has brought innovation to the practice of medicine that could only be dreamed about a decade ago. By many accounts, we are now at the outset of Biomedical Century, and the need for engineers, natural scientists and physicians trained in biomedicine is greater than ever.
You are welcome to come and visit any of our research labs/facilities; just send us an email and arrange an appointment. Winnipeg is a great place to live, and University of Manitoba is a welcoming and friendly but high calibre university to do research. I came to Canada from Iran, and to here from University of Calgary, left for a year of postdoctoral fellowship in Johns Hopkins University and then back to University to Manitoba again. I have lived in different cities and have experienced different universities closely, and yet have found my home in Winnipeg and University of Manitoba. The rich cultural depth of Winnipeg and the friendly research environment of the U of Manitoba just made it impossible to leave. If you have any question about our BME program and/or wish to pay a visit, please contact the contact person of the lab of your interest.
