Rodale Institute - Rodale Institute was founded in 1947 by organic pioneer J.I. Rodale to study the link between healthy soil, healthy food and healthy people.
He moved from New York City to rural Pennsylvania in the late 1930's where he was able to realize his keen personal interest in farming.

Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems - One of the first agroecology centres at a University is "The Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems" at the University of California, Santa Cruz. This centre is home to Dr. Steve Gliessman, author of the first agroecology textbook, and is dedicated to increasing ecological sustainability and social justice in the food and agriculture system.
