Long-term cropping systems research on sustainable agriculture production practices could not occur without the generous support of our donors. Thank you to all who have contributed.
Funds from Covering New Ground, the Manitoba Agricultural Sustainability Initiative, have been received for the Glenlea long-term plots for over 5 years.
The Manitoba Rural Adaptation Council funded an economics study. This allowed the economic performance of organic, conventional and low-input systems to be compared over an 8 year period.
Agriculture and AgriFood Canada funded an energy study. The study involved a comparative analysis of energy use and energy use efficiency of organic and conventional systems in three different crop rotations.
Funds from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (through a strategic grant) were used to study transition strategies for organic crop production.
Manitoba Conservation's Sustainable Development Innovations Funds contributed resources that allowed equipment to be purchased for the Glenlea long-term study.
Brett Young Seeds have contributed forage seed to the Glenlea long-term study for over 10 years. This assistance is greatly appreciated.
The Potash and Phosphate Institute of Canada has funded various aspects of this project, most notably micronutrient analysis of flax test crops.
The Western Grains Research Foundation has supported research on medic cover crops. Cover crops are being used in orgainc cropping systems at Glenlea.
