Dr. Daniel Bailis, Professor and Head, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts
Dan Bailis is Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba. He works in the area of Social/Personality Psychology, with particular interests in goals, motivation and emotion, physical activity, and health. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from Princeton University, and B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Research Affiliate of the Centre on Aging and the Health, Leisure, and Human Performance Research Institute at University of Manitoba and was formerly Research Director of the Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg.
Dr. John Walker (Alumnus), Professor, Department of Clinical Health Psychology, College of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences
John R. Walker, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Health Psychology at University of Manitoba. He is active in research and has an interest in interventions that help people learn to cope effectively with stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic illness. Recently, Dr. Walker has been studying what information people would prefer to have in making decisions concerning the treatment of depression, anxiety, inflammatory bowel disease, and celiac disease. This research has revealed that people often have difficulty obtaining high quality information to answer their questions. Dr. Walker is coauthor of a book focused on health anxiety titled: Treating Health Anxiety and Fear of Death (2007), and a self-help book on social anxiety published by the Anxiety Disorders Association of America titled: Triumph over shyness: Conquering shyness and social anxiety (2009).
Dr. Fang Wan, Professor, Department of Marketing, I. H. Asper School of Business
Fang Wan is Professor of Marketing, and a Ross Johnson Research Fellow at the Asper School of Business of the University of Manitoba. Her expansive research interests lie primarily in the areas of brand management and cross-cultural consumer behavior. Dr. Wan is also a board member of China Brand Academy of Strategy and Planning, and a sought-after public speaker.
Dr. Wan has developed an integrated approach to understanding branding known as the Brand Triangle. It is composed of 6 cornerstones: brand soul, internal branding, external branding, brand synchronization, brand adaptation and brand tracking.
Dr. Wan is currently completing two books on branding: Brand Triangle: An Integrative Approach to Brand Management and Brand Storm from China.
Dr. Wan was born and raised in China. She attended Wuhan University at the age of 16. She obtained her BA in English from Wuhan University, her M.Phil from Chinese University of Hong Kong, and her Ph.D from the University of Minnesota. She completed her postdoc research fellowship at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University before she joined Asper School of Business in 2003. Her cross-cultural journey and experiences are a source of inspiration for her research, consulting and book writing.
