Centre for Children's Oral Health

Children living in urban poor communities, on First Nations and in rural areas are suffering from poor dental health at a rate 10 times higher than the rest of the childhood population. The magnitude of the associated pain and suffering is immense.

The Centre for Children’s Oral Health will meet this critical need by ensuring access to treatment and preventative care for underserved children within the province. This centre will also establish the Faculty as an international leader in children’s oral health issues. Solutions developed here may have applications locally, nationally and in other parts of the world.

An endowed chair in Children’s Oral Health will be established to provide innovative leadership in working with organized dentistry and government to improve the oral health of underserved children in Manitoba. An active graduate program will provide support for the health-care improvement efforts through its research and service components.

Your support of the Centre for Children's Oral Health will help the Faculty of Dentistry maintain its position as a leader in research and attain its goal in the Drive for Top 5.
