Mission, Vision and Values

The Office of Risk Management & Security was established in 2009 with the Director in place in early 2010.  The office is responsible for Enterprise Risk Management across the university community, the Emergency Management Program, business continuity, insurance and the development of university policies and procedures as they relate to risk management and emergency preparedness.


To create a culture of enterprise risk management and emergency preparedness across the university community and to continually enhance our organizational wide resilience in support of our students, faculties, management and staff.


Through vigilance in the identification, assessment and management of all aspects of risk to the university, create an environment where the student experience is safe, secure, and desired. Where faculties and management are supported through accountable, strategic and evidence based initiatives aimed at long term sustainability and growth, and where all staff can work in a productive, vibrant, rewarding and healthy workplace.


A commitment to excellence, innovation, integrity, sustainability and accountability to all of the students, faculties, staff, management, board of governors and to all stakeholders both internal and external that support the University of Manitoba.
