The role of the WHMIS Coordinator at the University of Manitoba is to assist departments and program areas achieve regulatory compliance under provincial WHMIS legislation.
The following resources have been specifically developed to assist in the implementation of WHMIS in your department.
WHMIS Coordinators Meeting
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) hosted its annual meetings on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Fort Garry campus and Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Bannatyne campus. A total of 34 WHMIS Coordinators attended both sessions. This year’s sessions were offered in a slightly different format with respect to duration. Each session was scheduled for two hours, allowing EHS staff to present updates in the first hour and providing WHMIS Coordinators a one-hour forum to discuss issues or ask questions.
The 2018 WHMIS Coordinator Summary Report provides a brief summary of the topics covered and the issues and questions that the WHMIS Coordinators brought up for discussion.

On February 11, 2015, the Government of Canada published their Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR). These regulations can be found by clicking here.
Due to the HPR, the hazard communication components of WHMIS will be updated. Therefore, the new version of WHMIS will be referred to as WHMIS 2015.
