For Students
There have been significant changes in the copyright environment recently and in the University’s approach to copyright. At the same time, the Copyright Act is evolving.

A change at the University is the establishment of a Copyright Office. If you are uncertain that using copyrghted material in your thesis or for your coursework is authorized, call the Copyright Office for advice.

If you require copyright clearance for copyrighted works included in your thesis, you may use a sample permission letter for students and revise it as needed. Note that you will be responsible for paying fees if a copyright owner requests so.

See the Resources section for the Copyright Quiz, a slide presentation about copyright and more.

See the Faculty of Graduate Studies thesis guidelines for more information about your thesis.
