Marketing Communications Office (MCO) is a department within the External Relations unit with a mandate to enhance and protect the image and reputation of the University of Manitoba. MCO is also charged with supporting the vision and team purpose of the External Relations Division.
The MCO oversees all institutional marketing and communications activities and provides marketing communications direction and integrated service to strategically important areas within the university. These areas include marketing communications efforts related to students, research, administration, indigenous perspectives and knowledge, alumni, donor relations and faculties.
Operating from a service-delivery model, MCO works in concert with client areas to collaboratively meet the institutions marketing communications needs, ensuring the strength and consistency of the University of Manitoba brand, messaging and strategic direction. While maintaining a focus on the overall image and reputation of the institution, MCO works with individual units and faculties to ensure their unique characteristics and strengths are promoted and celebrated as well. MCO utilizes a number of vehicles to achieve its goals including UM Today News, publications, social media, websites, marketing campaigns, advertising, video, photography and earned media.
