The Verna J. Kirkness Science and Engineering Program will be at the U of M from May 29 - June 2, 2017. A record-breaking 46 students will spend five days working with U of M scientists and researchers in their laboratories and in the field.
You can follow the students' experiences during the program on Storify, which will be updated as students contribute throughout the week.
The program aims to increase the number of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students graduating from science and engineering programs in Canada. Indigenous students in grade 11 are invited to apply for scholarships to spend a week at a Canadian university.
They will also have a chance to experience campus life and explore student supports, such as the Indigenous Student Centre.
