Call for Nominations - Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference

The Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference (GGCLC) gathers emerging leaders for an informative and motivational two-week experience that will build on their pre-established skills in leadership and management. Ultimately the purpose of the conference is to advance the quality of decision-making in all key sectors of Canadian society.

The University of Manitoba seeks to sponsor a well-suited individual for this opportunity to represent the U of M community at the 2015 national conference.  Nominations/applications from both Academic and Support Staff are encouraged. Once we identify the individual that the University will sponsor they will then need to be interviewed and chosen by the GGCLC Selection Committee in order to attend the conference.

Listed below are some of the key criteria used by the GGCLC Selection Committee:

The individual:

·         Must be mid-level in their career and either hold, or will taking on, a leadership role within the University.

·         Has successfully worked in teams and thrives in a collaborative environment.

·         Is available for conference events during May 22-June 5, 2015.

·         Has a passion for innovation and creativity in leadership.

·         Demonstrates effective communication skills and is collaborative in nature.  They are able to be assertive and express themselves well when working with groups.

·         Is a problem solver, and utilizes creativity in dealing with problems or decisions.

·         Has volunteer experience and active involvement within the broader community.

To be a part of this conference is a tremendous opportunity, the GGCLC selection committee will be interviewing candidates from across Canada for a limited number of seats. Each organization is expected to sponsor only one candidate. The University is considering individuals for sponsorship by two methods:

-       You can fill out the nomination/application form and submit your own application.

-       You can nominate a colleague who meets the criteria, and in your estimation would take what they learn from this experience and use it to enrich the university community. If you know of such a person, please take the time to nominate them.

The nomination/application forms must be submitted to Melissa Grapentine no later than August 8th, 2014. If you have questions or would like more information please feel free to contact Melissa.
