The Food Service Worker under general supervision of the Management Team is responsible for services provided in a fast paced cash retail food service operation, residence area or kitchen area.


·         Provides “on-the-job” training to new and subordinate staff.

·         Requisitions food and supplies from the Campus Storeroom.

·         Practices and ensures safe food handling including proper service, storage and temperature controls.

·         Responsible for maintaining a well organized area of service, including server, seating areas and common areas ensuring they are clean and sanitized in accordance to all health and safety regulations.

·         If applicable, is responsible for all services within the Catering Department and must meet standards of Customer Service as set out by Management.

·         Ensures correct product rotation at all times.  Stocks all food service related goods.

·         Reports operational concerns to the Management Team.

·         Provides courteous customer service to all patrons.

·         Operates and receives daily cash receipts in a cash retail food service outlet.

·         Counts, records and deposits cash receipts in accordance with Food Service policy.

·         May perform food preparation and production duties as required; including combining basic ingredients.

·         Ensures adequate food and related supplies are in sufficient supply to meet menu requirements.

·         Actively participates in the marketing of the Component.  May set up displays.

·         Responsible for the shipping/receiving of all food service and catering orders.  Ensures accuracy of all orders.

·         Performs miscellaneous related duties as assigned.


The minimum qualifications necessary for satisfactory job Performance are:

Level of Formal Education Required

High School graduate


Must have Cash Register/Handling experience

Skills and Abilities

·         Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to follow oral and written instructions.

·         Ability to make accurate and quick mathematical calculations.

·         Must have full medical examination upon request.

·         Must possess and maintain in good standing a Food Handler’s Certificate.

Physical Requirements

·         Standing 100% of the time.

·         Some heavy lifting required.  Must be able to lift and carry a load up to 40 kg without strain.

·         Repetitive work and actions may include rapid cash coin and note handling, reaching, slicing, chopping and spreading.
