CHARACTER OF THE JOB

Under close supervision from the Residence Supervisor (Housekeepers), the Housekeeper-Residences performs a variety of cleaning duties at the University residences.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Makes beds, changes bed linen, cleans students' rooms.
  • Vacuums utility rooms, lounges, telephone booths, and upholstered furniture.
  • Polishes mirrors, light switches, door plates.
  • Scour sinks, washes counters, floors, leatherette chairs, etc.
  • Empties and washes garbage cans, ashtrays, etc.
  • Dusts doors and windows in lounge, bookshelves, radiators and lamps.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

The minimum qualifications necessary for acceptable (satisfactory) job performance are:

Level of Formal Education

  • Education to an acceptable level.

Experience

  • Acceptable related experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cleaning routines.
  • Ability to get along well with staff and students.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of performing the duties as assigned.

Physical Plant will instruct all employees to complete an Orientation Workshop, normally during the first day on the job, and the Health and Safety Orientation Module, normally during the probation period.  Employees will also be instructed to complete various workshops, such as Asbestos Awareness, etc. during the first year of employment depending upon an individual's classification."
