CHARACTER OF THE JOB
In general, in a 24x7 environment, incumbents at this level are responsible for the daily and on-going operation of the Administrative Mainframe system. Acting primarily as console operator, the incumbent is responsible for the timely, accurate, execution of daily and on-going operational procedures, Administrative batch job processing and system backups following specific instructions and established procedures.
On a 24x7 shift basis, acting as Console Operator, the incumbent monitors and controls the daily and on-going operation of the Administrative Mainframe System, ensuring standardized procedures and policies are adhered to and receiving and executing specific procedural instructions as required or requested.
Post Secondary education or certificate in related mainframe computing.
Minimum two year's experience in a large scale, MVS environment, supporting networked systems at a System Operator (or equivalent) level, with direct IBM-compatible unit record equipment experience. Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Windows operating systems is required.
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
