CHARACTER OF THE JOB
This position is the entry level of computer operator positions. In general, under direct supervision in a 24x7 environment, incumbents at this level are responsible for the daily operation of the Administrative Mainframe system. Outside business hours, incumbents, using monitoring displays, are responsible for monitoring other locally situated Networked systems.
Under supervision of more senior Computer Operators and following established procedures and processes, the incumbent is responsible for the timely execution of daily and on-going Mainframe operational procedures, Administrative batch job processing and system backups.
High school completion with job-related options.
No experience required as "on-the-job" training is provided. One year of computer operations in an IBM compatible mainframe environment with direct experience with unit record equipment is desirable.
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
