Why Self-Declare?

It's important to self-declare because the University of Manitoba strives to create a workforce that reflects the diversity of the population we serve.  We want to ensure that no person is denied employment opportunities or benefits for reasons unrelated to ability.

This survey will assist us to:

• Recognize who we are
• Build a workforce that is representative of the pool of potential candidates with appropriate qualifications
• Identify discriminatory barriers that may hinder hiring or career advancement and remove them
• Without proof of our improvement in the representation of under-represented groups we risk losing Federal Contracts and Research Funding
