Senate Motions for October 7, 2015

The following motions were approved by Senate at its meeting on October 7, 2015:


THAT the list of candidates recommended for degrees notwithstanding a deficiency be approved.

THAT the list of graduands provided to the University Secretary by the Registrar be approved, subject to the right of Deans and Directors to initiate late changes with the Registrar up to October 9, 2015.

THAT the report on medals and prizes provided to the University Secretary be approved by Senate.

THAT Senate approve:

  • the Interdisciplinary Health Program (IHP) and General Human Ecology Academic Program Regulations, September 2015 - June 2016;
  • proposals from the Extended Education Division RE:
  • Certificate of General Competency in English;
  • Certificate in Management and Administration;
  • Certificate in Applied Management, Customer Service Specialization;
  • Certificate in Applied Management, Leadership Development Specialization;
  • Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in E-Learning;
  • Revisions to Certificate in Human Resource Management.

THAT the minutes of the Senate meeting held on June 24, 2015 be approved as circulated.

THAT the following nominations to the Senate Committee on Nominations be approved by Senate:

  • Dean Karin Wittenberg (new appointment, Senator), representing Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environment, Earth, and Resources, for a three-year term ending on May 31, 2018; and
  • Ms. Vera Keown (new appointment), representing Libraries and Student Affairs, for a term ending on May 31, 2016.

THAT Senate approve and recommend to the Board of Governors the Report of the Senate Committee on Awards – Part B [dated June 23, 2015].

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal for a Teachable Minor in Religious Studies, for Admission to the Bachelor of Education, Faculty of Education, effective September 2016.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on University Research, on the periodic review of the Legal Research Institute, regarding a recommendation to renew the Institute for a period of five (5) years, ending May 31, 2020.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on University Research, on the periodic review of the University of Manitoba Transport Institute, regarding a recommendation to renew the Institute for a period of two (2) years, beginning January 1, 2016 and ending December 31, 2017.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Nominations [dated September 22, 2015].
