Senate Motions for November 1, 2017
 

The following motions were approved by Senate at its meeting on November 1, 2017:


THAT Senate approve:

  • the Report of the Executive Committee of Graduate Studies on Course and Curriculum Changes, concerning the Department of Geological Sciences [May 24, 2017]; and
  • the Report of the Executive Committee of Graduate Studies on Course and Curriculum Changes, concerning the Asper School of Business, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Departments of Mathematics and Pathology [September 27, 2017].

THAT the minutes of the Senate meeting held on October 4, 2017 be approved as circulated.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Awards – Part B [dated September 22, 2017].

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on the Calendar concerning a proposal for an Academic Calendar Content Guide for Graduate Programs, effective for the 2018 – 2019 Academic Session.

THAT Senate approve Articulation Agreement proposals between the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, and the following institutions, each for a five-year term effective September 1, 2018:

  • Huazhong Agricultural University, concerning advanced standing in the Bachelor of Science in Food Science degree;
  • Lanzhou University, concerning advanced standing in Bachelor of Science Degrees in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Agroecology, and Food Science; and
  • Nanjing University of Finance and Economics concerning advanced standing in the Bachelor of Science degrees in Agribusiness and Food Science.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve a proposal to change the name of the Department of English, Film, and Theatre, in the Faculty of Arts, to the “Department of English, Theatre, Film & Media,” effective January 1, 2018.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve a proposal to change the name of the Department of Sociology, in the Faculty of Arts, to the “Department of Sociology and Criminology,” effective January 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Nominations [dated October 16, 2017].

THAT Senate approve the Report on the Review of the Academic Schedule, effective for the 2018-2019 Academic Session.
