Senate Motions for May 16, 2018
 

The following motions were approved by Senate at its meeting on May 16, 2018:


THAT the candidates recommended for a degree notwithstanding a deficiency be approved.

THAT the list of graduands provided to the University Secretary by the Registrar be approved, subject to the right of Deans and Directors to initiate late changes with the Registrar up to May 18, 2018.

THAT the report on medals and prizes provided to the University Secretary be approved by Senate.

THAT Senate approve the nomination of Ms. Tiana Kriegl to serve as the voting member on the Senate Executive Committee.

THAT Senate approve:

  • the Report of the Senate Committee on Curriculum and Course Changes – Part A, as amended;
  • the Reports the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Graduate Studies on Course and Curriculum Changes:
  • RE: Department of Landscape Architecture [March 28, 2018]
  • RE: Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology [March 28, 2018]

THAT the minutes of the Senate meeting held on April 4, 2018 be approved as circulated.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Awards – Part B [dated April 3, 2018].

THAT Senate approve the (i) introduction of ARTS 3010, ARTS 3020, and ARTS 3030 and (ii) modifications to the Bachelor of Arts (Single Advanced Major) and Bachelor of Arts (Single Honours) degree programs, in the Faculty of Arts, to introduce a Co-operative Education Stream, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the modification of the Bachelor of Arts (Single Advanced Major) in Psychology, Faculty of Arts, to introduce a Co-operative Education Option, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the (i) deletion of AGRI 4550, AGRI 4560, and AGRI 4570, (ii) introduction of AGRI 2002, AGRI 3002, and AGRI 4002, and (iii) modifications to the Cooperative Education Program, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve modifications to the Preliminary Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, with curriculum modifications to take effect September 1, 2018 and revised admission requirements effective for the Fall 2019 intake.

THAT Senate approve the (i) introduction of IDM 2983, IDM 3983, and IDM 4983 and (ii) modifications to the Baccalauréat en administration des affaires, Université de Saint-Boniface, to introduce a Cooperative Program Option (option programme coopératif), effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning revised admission requirements for the Bachelor of Environmental Design degree, Faculty of Architecture, effective for the Fall 2019 intake.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning revised admission requirements for the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, I.H. Asper School of Business, effective for the Fall 2019 intake.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal from Enrolment Services to revise the Direct Entry admission option framework, effective upon Senate approval.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation concerning the removal of the Challenge for Credit regulation, Bachelor of Human Nutritional Sciences program, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation concerning a revised Residency Requirement for the Bachelor of Environmental Design degree, Faculty of Architecture, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation concerning revised regulations for the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Cooperative Education Option (Asper Co-op Program), I.H. Asper School of Business, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation concerning a proposed Narrative Assessment policy for the Undergraduate Medical Education program, Max Rady College of Medicine, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate approve the following revised policies and procedures for the Undergraduate Medical Education program, Max Rady College of Medicine, effective September 1, 2018:

  • Communicating Methods of Evaluation;
  • Formative Assessment;
  • Promotion and Failure;
  • Repeat Clerkship.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve a proposal to establish a Clinician-Scientist Professorship, Max Rady College of Medicine, as amended.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on University Research, on the periodic review of the Manitoba Institute for Materials, regarding a recommendation that the Institute be renewed for a term of five (5) years, from May 30, 2018 through May 29, 2023.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Nominations [dated May 8, 2018].

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the University Discipline Committee concerning revisions to the Student Discipline Bylaw and related procedures.
