Senate Motions for March 7, 2018


The following motions were approved by Senate at its meeting on March 7, 2018:


THAT the candidate recommended for a degree notwithstanding a deficiency be approved.

THAT Senate approve:

  • the Report of the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Graduate Studies on Course and Curriculum Changes concerning the Departments of Accounting and Finance, and Human Anatomy and Cell Science [January 31, 2018], effective Fall 2018;
  • a revision to the Academic Schedule for 2018-2019, Bachelor of Education;
  • the Report of the Senate Committee on Medical Qualifications concerning Dr. Magimairajan Issai Vanan.

THAT the minutes of the Senate meeting held on January 3, 2018 be approved as circulated.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Awards – Part B [dated December 19, 2017].

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Awards – Part B [dated January 16, 2018].

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve a proposal for Bachelor of Music (Music Education).

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Faculty Council of Graduate Studies on Program and Curriculum Changes concerning the Department of Physics and Astronomy, effective September 1, 2018.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the Senate Committee on University Research concerning a proposal for a Chair in Child Health Evidence Based Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the Senate Committee on University Research concerning a proposal for a Chair in Pediatrics and Child Health, Max Rady College of Medicine.

THAT Senate recommend that the Board of Governors approve the Report of the Senate Committee on University Research concerning a proposal for a Chair in Human Rights and Social Justice, Faculty of Law.

THAT:

a) Senate authorize the President and Provost and Vice-President (Academic), as Chair and Vice-Chair of Senate, to, if timing requires it, approve graduands who have met all the requirements for their degrees on behalf of Senate, with subsequent report to Senate for information. It is understood that any candidates recommended for a degree notwithstanding a deficiency must be approved by Senate; and

b) Senate authorize the President and Provost and Vice-President (Academic), as Chair and Vice-Chair of Senate, to, if timing requires it, approve the list of medals, awards and prizes for Convocation, with subsequent report to Senate.
