Senate Motions for January 11, 2012
The following motions were approved by the Senate at its meeting on January 11, 2012.


THAT Senate approve the Reports of the Executive of the Faculty of Graduate Studies
on Course and Curriculum Changes [dated September 22, 2011 and November 24, 2011].

THAT the minutes of the Senate meeting held on December 7, 2011 be approved 
as circulated

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation 
regarding amendments to the Academic Regulations of the Marcel A. Desautels 
Faculty of Music [dated November 24, 2011].

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation 
regarding an amendment to the Unsafe Clinical Practice Policy, Faculty of Nursing 
[dated November 24, 2011], as amended.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Rules and Procedures 
regarding the addition of the Executive Lead, Indigenous Achievement, as an 
assessor on Senate [dated November 25, 2011].

THAT Senate approve the nomination of Karen Adams, University Librarian, to 
serve as the representative of the Senate of the University of Manitoba on the 
Public Library Advisory Board of the Province of Manitoba.

THAT Senate approve the motion on the February 1, 2012 UMSU Day of Action, as amended.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT February 1st, 2012 be recognized as a day of student action toward quality and accessible education and that all academic staff shall be made aware of this fact; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT students are expected to fulfill all their academic responsibilities regardless of their participation on February 1st, 2012, and that students and instructors be encouraged to make reasonable accommodations for any conflicts in advance of the day.
