Senate Meeting Rules

Open Sessions

Normally all meetings of Senate shall be open to members of the University community, the general public, and representatives of the news media, subject to the limitations of space and orderly conduct. 
  1. At least fifteen (15) places in the Senate Chamber shall be available for non-members, of which three (3) shall be held specifically for representatives of the news media.
  2. Non-members, including representatives of the news media, may reserve places at a specific meeting by applying to the office of the Secretary of Senate any time between the time of publication of the agenda and two (2) hours before the time of the meeting.
  3. The Executive Committee may authorize the Secretary to make long-term reservations, provided that the number of such long-term reservations does not exceed fifty (50%) percent of the minimum number of places available to non-members of Senate.
