Student Success

Extraordinary academic achievement, strength of character and community involvement – that’s what it takes to be a Rhodes Scholar.

In 2011 another exceptional U of M student was named a Rhodes Scholar. He, along with two Rhodes Scholars named in 2010, bring the total number of University of Manitoba students to graduate with this honour to 96 — more than any other university in Western Canada.

Student success can be seen not only in our Rhodes Scholars, but across campus in a broad range of disciplines. Recent achievements include:

  • Pharmacy students have ranked 1st in Canada by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) Qualifying Examinations for four years in a row
  • The Asper School of Business dominates international business planning competitions with 46 first-place wins since 1995
  • Students in the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music have won the prestigious Oscar Peterson Grant for Jazz performance for two years in a row
