Campuses

The Fort Garry Campus is a beautiful 233-hectare complex bordering the banks of the Red River in south Winnipeg, where more than 60 major buildings support teaching and research programs. It is home to a new 10,000 square foot Welcome Centre and a Pedestrian Mall. 

Project Domino is a multi-year multi-million dollar project to retrofit buildings & facilities for the 21st century. The project involves construction of a new 360 bed residence, transformation of historic Taché Hall (1912) for the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music and the School of Art, and construction of an adjacent ART Lab Building to provide additional studio space.

  • Smartpark is a university-owned company that provides lease space in a community environment to 30 growing companies in high-tech sectors, including several companies in the eureka project: Smatpark's Incubator.
  • The Fort Garry Campus is also the location of the Freshwater Institute of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans of Canada, the Cereal Research Centre of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada and the provincial Agriculture Services Complex.
  • The Bannatyne Campus in central Winnipeg, adjacent to the Health Sciences Centre, is a complex of 10 buildings for health science education and research in dentistry, medicine, medical rehabilitation and pharmacy. The new $31 million Apotex Center houses the Faculty of Pharmacy and department of immunology.
  • Other locations: the William Norrie Centre, 485 Selkirk Avenue, for social work education for inner-city residents; University of Manitoba Downtown: Aboriginal Education Centre where the Division of Extended Education offers degree and certificate programs in partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities; National Centre for Livestock and Environment and soon to be built Gleanlea Farm Management Centre; agricultural research farm at Carman; field stations at Delta Marsh on Lake Manitoba, Star Lake in the Whiteshell, and Wallace Lake in eastern Manitoba.
