English Language Programs: The University of Manitoba offers two different English language support programs. The English Language Centre offers academic English courses and programs to prepare students for university study as well as to assist students already in academic study at The University of Manitoba. Graduates of the full-time academic English program automatically meet the University of Manitoba English requirements. The English Language Studies Program at the University of Manitoba brings together students from Quebec and around the world for the Intensive English Program (ESL). Beginner to Advanced level students can study ESL from 4 weeks up to 1 year while enjoying socio-cultural activities in Winnipeg and Western Canada. University 1: University 1 is the first year of study for most programs at the University of Manitoba. This innovative program provides programming flexibility to students while ensuring that they complete their degree in the same amount of time as similar programs in other universities.
